Community service takes many different forms. One of my most important jobs as a Park Board Commissioner – and now as a City Council candidate – is to listen to my community’s needs and perspectives and advocate on their behalf. My true north has always been about putting others first, not personal ambition.

That’s why it was so meaningful to celebrate our son Peter’s cadet graduation this week, where he officially became a Minneapolis firefighter. Along with his classmates, he’s dedicating himself to a life of service in the community, joining wonderful leaders and teammates in one of the best fire departments in the country. I couldn’t be prouder of Peter and his fellow graduates!
